This should be a sight to see, eh? An exorcism at a film festival? Okay, it's not a real one. Lionsgate and producer Eli Roth will premiere their new possession flick, The Last Exorcism at this year's Los Angeles Film Festival that runs from June 17th through the 27th. It will be shown on an outdoor screen at the Ford Amphitheater. I'm always interested in seeing what kind of Biblical influence or idealogy actually makes it into films like these. I will definitely be reviewing it. Although I'm sure I will have to have an airplane barf-bag with me at all times as it sounds like it will be shot in a "documentary" style like District 9 and Paranormal Activity, which both made me want to blow chunks. Paranormal Activity made me want to blow chunks in general. Terrible film that I cannot say enough bad things about.
After a career spent helping the devout through prayer and trickery, Reverend Cotton Marcus invites a film crew to document his final fraudulent days as an exorcist. Soon his faith is truly tested when a desperate plea from the father of a possessed girl brings him face to face with the devil himself.
The Last Exorcism was directed by Daniel Stamm (A Necessary Death) and stars Patrick Fabian (Big Love) and Ashley Bell (The United States of Tara).
The movie comes out on August 27th nationwide.
