One of my guilty pleasures for the past few years has been the CW's Supernatural. it started out being just a story of two brothers trying to find the demon that killed their mother and turned into a full-blown battle to try and stop the Apocalypse and Lucifer from taking over the world. I admit that I'm a bit behind on my DVR'ed episodes of the show, but thought it would be cool to start doing updates on the show here. It is an interesting take on the spiritual realm and the activities of angels and demons. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that it is absolutely Biblically-based, but it does cause a lot of people to think about the spiritual realm around us. After the jump is a video clip sneak peek for this Thursday's upcoming episode that features guest star Mark Sheppard (who was a lawyer in Battlestar Galactica) and an incredibly nice guy. I met him at a Sci-Fi Expo in Dallas a couple of years back. He plays a character named Crowley on Supernatural.
Here's a synopsis of Episode 21, which is entitled "Two Minutes to Midnight:"
Crowley (guest star Mark Sheppard) tells Bobby (Jim Beaver) he will give him the location of Death (guest star Julian Richings), the fourth horseman, in exchange for his soul. Knowing Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) need that fourth ring to stop the Apocalypse, Bobby reluctantly agrees. Sam and Dean confront Pestilence (guest star Matt Frewer), but he unleashes a deadly virus upon them, so Castiel (Misha Collins) must intervene on their behalf. Dean has a meeting with Death to discuss Lucifer, and an unholy alliance is formed at a very high price for Dean.
I have wanted for quite a while to do a blog or site that centers on religion in horror, sci-fi, and genre films; Christian horror movies; books; and graphic novels. A lot of the posts probably won't be real long or detailed, but hopefully it will help point people that have similiar interests in a favorable direction. There's so many Christian books, films, and artists that go unheard of that hopefully this site will help.
